Google Meet camera and microphone test

Google Meet runs in the browser, so a local browser check is a fast way to separate browser permission problems from Meet settings.

Use the same browser path

Open MicAndCam in the browser you use for Meet. Start the microphone and camera tests only when you are ready to allow the prompt. If the meter moves and the camera preview appears, the browser permission path is working.

If MicAndCam says blocked, fix the site permission or operating-system privacy setting before opening Meet. Meet cannot use a camera or microphone that the browser itself cannot open.

Check framing and audio before Meet

Use the webcam grid to place your eyes near the upper third of the frame, then check the lighting and sharpness readings. Use the mic recording to hear the selected microphone, not only see the level move.

Play Both on the speaker test, then left and right if you use headphones. This confirms the output route before Meet starts.

Then confirm inside Meet

On the Meet pre-join screen, open settings and choose the same microphone, camera, and speaker. If MicAndCam works but Meet does not, the fix is usually inside Meet's selected device list or a browser tab already holding the device.

FAQ

Can I test Google Meet without joining a meeting?

Yes. MicAndCam checks the browser device path first. Then use Meet's own pre-join settings as the final app-specific check.

Is an online mic or webcam test safe and private?

It can be when the tool runs locally. MicAndCam analyzes microphone levels, camera preview, snapshots, and recordings in your browser and does not upload media. You can verify this with the live counter or your browser's Network panel.
